# InjuryAtlas regional anatomy review assets

These are local review adaptations, not replacements for the current full-body or textured shoulder assets. InjuryAtlas provides educational information, not medical advice.

The site owner has confirmed noncommercial use. Original source texture terms and attributions continue to apply; no claim is made that a general CC BY-SA label overrides any separately licensed image. No new muscle image has been generated or incorporated in this pass.

## Modifications

- Selected named source objects exported with stable IDs, labels, source names and tissue categories in `manifest.json` and GLB extras.
- Each region translated to a local origin, with all relative attachment positions preserved.
- Wrist bones, 27 ligament objects, articular disc, two named tendon objects and retained context extracted. The source's general overlay duplicates are not all drawn together with detailed structures.
- Ankle: anterior, posterior and transverse tibiofibular ligaments; dorsal/plantar tarsometatarsal, cuneometatarsal interosseous, intercuneiform interosseous and plantar calcaneonavicular ligament groups. Tibia/fibula shafts sectioned and capped at source Z=0.19 m for a bounded regional presentation. Distal attachment geometry retained.
- Source textures/UVs retained where valid. Source meshes without UVs use untextured tissue materials. Roughness/specular values standardized, metallic response removed, source polygons smoothed. No invented fiber mapping on meshes without UVs.
- Shoulder study: infraspinatus faces already assigned the source's `Tendon` material separated from its parent muscle. Other cuff muscles have unused tendon material slots, so no additional tendon regions were invented. Source geometry study has no muscle texture maps and does not replace InjuryAtlas's approved textured shoulder.
- No runtime outlines, bloom, subdivision or extra lights for selection. Teal uses the existing mesh; the optional context transparency is explicitly controlled by the visitor.

The `*-source.glb` files use the same extracted/sectioned geometry with the source material presentation. They are comparisons of materials, not untouched copies of the complete upstream scenes.

## Coverage limits

The wrist disc and radioulnar group is **not a complete TFCC model**. The midfoot source groups the cuneometatarsal bands together; this adaptation does **not claim a separately verified Lisfranc ligament**. The wrist is a regional extract ending at the metacarpals, not a complete finger model. Names and source geometry do not constitute independent anatomical validation.

Original downloaded archives, revised Blender scenes, exact extraction scripts, source inventories, screenshots and measurements are retained in `artifacts/wrist-ligament-preview-2026-09-13/` in the project workspace.

## Regional inspection v2 — September 13, 2026

This directory is a separate adaptation; the v1 exports and all original downloaded Blender scenes remain available unchanged. Source and attribution above apply to these derivatives and their preview images under CC BY-SA 4.0.

Changes: added the source-named Palmar ulnocarpal ligament and Dorsal ulnocarpal ligament from the same hand scene. No inferred attachment geometry. Ankle technical shaft cuts have a 0.3 mm bevel; bone and ligament roughness is adjusted for restrained highlights. Existing UVs, embedded base-color images and normal maps are retained. Images larger than 1024 pixels are resized to a maximum dimension of 1024 for this viewer. This is texture resolution optimization, not a new anatomical texture.

Coverage remains partial: the TFCC is not complete; only one cuff muscle has a separately marked tendon surface; the midfoot source bands are grouped and must not be presented as a verified individual Lisfranc ligament. Thumb UCL and knee MPFL are not represented by separately verified meshes in this release. These limits are preserved in the interface.

The isolated cuff specimen does not replace the approved textured shoulder or full-body model. No changes to clinical content or review credentials.


## Regional inspection v3 — September 13, 2026

This preview adds source-derived knee and elbow specimens and completes the included ankle ligament selection. Previous exports and original Blender scenes are retained. New derivatives and their preview images are distributed under CC BY-SA 4.0 with the upstream attribution above.

- Ankle: seven previously omitted named structures added from the same Open3DModel lower-limb scene: anterior/posterior talofibular, calcaneofibular, tibionavicular, tibiocalcaneal, posterior tibiotalar, and source-named anterior tibiotalar (Tibiospring lig.). All 22 existing v2 objects retain exactly the same surface geometry and UV coordinates. There are now 15 ligament objects/groups and 14 bones. Outer ankle, inner ankle, tibiofibular and midfoot groups are separate.
- Knee: source-aligned femur, tibia, fibula, patella, ACL, PCL, medial collateral, fibular collateral, two menisci, the source's combined quadriceps tendon/patellar ligament object, and three articular cartilage surfaces. The same Open3DModel lower-limb source supplies all these structures. The owner's separate refined knee scene was inspected; it has no surrounding long bones and did not pass a rigid-registration check against this source, so mismatched scenes were not combined. This specimen does not replace the existing full-body knee asset.
- Elbow: the owner's existing `elbow-anatomy-refined.blend` supplies the distal humerus, proximal radius/ulna, distal biceps/triceps tendons, radial annular/radial collateral/ulnar collateral ligaments, joint capsule and olecranon bursa. These retain the existing project's licensed anatomy lineage. A misplaced duplicate `Elbow ligaments overview.r` aggregate was excluded; the individual ligament meshes are retained. No new attachment geometry was invented.
- The three knee and three elbow long bone shafts are sectioned beyond the retained soft-tissue bounds with 35 mm context. The artificial section edges receive a 0.3 mm bevel. Joint surfaces and soft-tissue attachments remain intact. Exact source planes are recorded in the manifest.
- Ligaments use a warm tan material multiplier to separate them from ivory bone. Source fiber/color textures, normal maps and UVs are retained where present. The Blender Multiply-node appearance is encoded explicitly as glTF baseColorFactor during preparation because the exporter omitted it for some source material graphs. This is a material/export correction, not new texture generation or new tissue geometry.
- Embedded images are limited to 1024 pixels in their longest dimension. No new runtime effects, lights or subdivisions. Wrist and cuff reuse unchanged v2 files and cache URLs.

Coverage remains deliberately bounded: not a complete ankle, knee or elbow ligament atlas. No separately verified MPFL is included; the knee extensor group is one selectable source object; the elbow ulnar collateral bundles are not separate. The TFCC, grouped midfoot/Lisfranc and cuff-tendon limitations above remain in force.

Revised `.blend` copies, source inventory, preparation scripts, before/after renders, browser comparisons and export measurements are stored under `artifacts/ankle-knee-elbow-2026-09-13/` in the project workspace. Clinical content and review credentials were not changed by this update.
