Overview
The lat pulldown is a machine-based vertical pull that trains the lats, upper back and biceps. It is a scalable way to build toward body-weight pulling.
How to Do It
- Set the thigh pad and grip the bar just outside shoulder width.
- Sit tall with the ribs controlled.
- Pull the elbows down and bring the bar toward the upper chest.
- Pause briefly, then let the bar rise under control.
Common Mistakes
- Pulling the bar behind the neck
- Leaning far back to use momentum
- Shrugging the shoulders up throughout
